Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Bachelor in Science in Nursing program is designed to educate the next generation of leaders and managers in the nursing profession. This program provides more than advanced skills in the art and science of nursing, it provides opportunities for critical thinking, research, and collaboration within the healthcare team. The BSN trained nurse is prepared to act as a role model of professionalism and uses his or her degree to provide the highest quality patient care, as well as to continue his or her education through research or in the pursuit of a masters degree.

The BSN trained nurse is a consumer of current research and is aware of global trends within the profession. The degree nurse is a patient advocate, a proponent of social justice and human rights and an active member of the community. The BSN trained nurse is also dedicated to the education of the next generation of professional nurses and actively seeks out opportunities to mentor nursing students.

Purpose of the BSc. in Nursing Program

To obtain highly qualified, competent, and academic-orientated professional nurse leaders who can raise the standard of patient care and address the pressing problem resulting from the lack of nationally trained professional nurses in Somaliland in the wake of a devastating civil conflict, and the resultant dispersion of able Somalilanders to many parts of the globe.

To uplift the professional standards of the current nurses in Somaliland and enable them deliver quality care.

Career Opportunities

The Bachelor in nursing Sciences holder will have the opportunity to chose working in various setting, such as hospitals, community health centers, schools,  local and international nongovernmental organizations. . There are also opportunities in education and mentoring, management and research to improve midwifery practice.
