This academic program was initiated to meet the country’s need for qualified competent midwives, who will become the future leaders and change agent, and who will take the midwifery profession to better meet the needs of the women, infants and families of Somaliland.

At Edna Adan University, you will have the opportunity to gain both an academic and a professional qualification within three years. The Midwifery degree programme combines theory and practice in supportive and stimulating learning environments and offers a variety of contexts for clinical placements.

Our programme allows you to develop a responsive attitude to the needs of childbearing women and their families, reflected in your capacity to assess these needs, make judgements and plan, implement and evaluate care.

We strive to develop competent midwives, able to utilise evidence-based practice, and will ensure that you are prepared to practise safely and effectively, within the proficiencies laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Association and ICM.
